The plot of land Sos Ferres de'n Morey is located in an isolate spot in northeast of Mallorca only 10,7 Km, away from Manacor and 10 minutes from the nearest beaches. The house was built in 1896, recently restored and equipped with all necessary details to make it a realm of peace and privacy. You can enjoy both clear views of the Badia d'Alcúdia and the most beautiful mountainous landscape of the island. The plot of land has 60 hectares where almond trees, carob trees, fig trees'are cultivated and ovine pasturage is carried out.

Opposite the house there's a little autochthonous vegetable garden in which we cultivate our best organic vegetables that accompany the most succulent popular dishes so that our guests relish the authentic taste of mallorquinish plates.

Sos Ferres d'en Morey presents 5 rooms: one double-room, two junior-suites and two senior suites. Each one is different from the others but all of them keep a distinguished air of elegance, simplicity and comfort. They all have spacious terraces and are equipped with hydrotherapy bath or shower, telephone, safe, mini bar and satellite television and radio. The ground floor houses a sitting-room, an old kitchen, which is now a little cozy chimney-room, a dining-room and a library. The two latest are prepared to carry out conferences and meetings.

On the other site of the house there are the swimming pool and the terraces next to the garden where you can enjoy a drink, a coffee or a good meal in the shade of thousand year-old holm oaks.

Because of its situation, Sos Ferres d'en Morey is presented like an ideal spot to admire nature's beauty. There, you can enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the country natural places and practice hiking. Only few Km. from the farm, you can find virgin or not popular beaches. And for those who love golf, there are some fields in the nearby such as Golf de Pula, Canyamel, and Roca Viva Capdepera with 18 holes, and Golf Costa de los Pinos with 9.

Mallorca History

Mallorca, inhabited since the Prehistoric Age, developed an important culture during the Bronze Age. In the year 123 BC Quinto Cecilio Metelo conquered the island for the Romans giving way to later invasions : the Vandals ( 468 ) the Byzantines ( 533 ) the Arabs ( 902 ).

In december 1229 the island was conquered by King James I of Aragon and repopulated by peopel of Catalan origin. With the succession of James II, the independent Kingdom of Mallorca was setup, and this went on to form part of the Crown of Aragon in the mid 14th Centure. After the War of Succession, the Kingdom of Mallorca disappeared, and the island lost all its privileges and exemptions ( 1715 ).

At the beginning of the 20th Centurythe island came under the dominion of Franco's troops ( 1936 ). In the 60s and still under dictatorship, the island began to experience the boom in tourism which has become one of the great driving forces behind its economic development today.

Population

The island of Mallorca at present has 740,900 inhabitants which accounts for 80% of the Balearic islands. 16% of the population are forigners . The foreign population is not just English and Germans, but alsomanypeople from South American countries.

Language

The official languages are Castillano and Catalan. The version of Catalan which is spoken is Mallorquien which is difficult for even some Catalan speakers to understand. This traditional version is spoken mostly in the villages.
